Support for WebCT and Townhall Townhall Resetting Townhall Passwords: Call the support center at 993-8870 if you have lost your password. Training/ Support for students using Townhall: Contact Buz Grover in STAR at 993-1430. Support for faculty using Townhall: One-on-one training and support with an IRC Instructional Designer/Technologist is available by appointment by contacting Jerry Drake (gdrake@gmu.edu), or Cindy McCourt (cmccourt@gmu.edu). Encountering an error message while using WebCT (students): Call the support Center at 993-8870 Getting a WebCT folder (faculty & staff): Faculty and staff wishing to use WebCT are strongly advised to sign up for the IRC workshops "Getting Started with WebCT" or "Put your Course on WebCT." Faculty who sign up for these workshops will automatically be given a WebCT folder in the "Workshops" area. These folders can then be moved to the appropriate semester area by contacting Jerry Drake (gdrake@gmu.edu). Faculty unable to attend one of these sessions should contact the IRC Instructional Designers/ Technologists:

Telephone support for WebCT - Faculty: Faculty who have questions while using WebCT can phone the IRC (993-3134) during the hours the IRC is open and will be connected to an Instructional Designer/Technologist for assistance. Training and support for Graduate School of Education students learning how to design content in WebCT: Currently neither STAR nor the IRC has the resources available to support Graduate Students designing content in WebCT as part of EDIT 575 or any other EDIT course. Students should ask their instructor about any WebCT problems that they encounter. Training and support on designing and maintain a WebCT folder (faculty, staff, and GTAs): The Instructional Resource Center offers workshops, a users group, and one-on-one support for faculty using WebCT. Workshops and registration information can be found on the IRC's Web site, http://www.irc.gmu.edu/wems/workshops. Faculty and staff wishing new to WebCT are strongly advised to sign up for the IRC workshops "Getting Started with WebCT" or "Put your Course on WebCT." Workshop modules on Communication (bulletin board, e-mail, and white board), Quizzes & Surveys, Course Content, and Course Management are also available. One-on-one training with an IRC Instructional Designer/Technologist is available by appointment by contacting Jerry Drake (gdrake@gmu.edu), or Cindy McCourt (cmccourt@gmu.edu). Walk-in support in the IRC computer lab is available. However, the student (s) providing said support and/ or the Instructional Designers/Technologists may not always be available and it is advisable to schedule an appointment in advance. Training on using WebCT from a student viewpoint: Workshops on using WebCT as a student are offered by STAR. These workshops will be offered during the first few weeks of every semester. See the STAR Web site (http://media.gmu.edu) for current information. STAR may also be available to conduct student workshops, or to make classroom presentations on specialized features/tools of WebCT. Walk-in support for students using WebCT: Students can receive one-on-one walk-in support on using WebCT in their classes in the STAR lab in JC 244. While the STAR staff are being trained in WebCT, all student questions can be referred to Buz Grover (hgroveri@gmu.edu, 993-1430).
